Contract Data Engineer

We’ve an excellent opportunity for an experienced Contract Data Engineer with a proven track record of client facing consultancy, excellent data engineering, database development, and data integration skills. This is an excellent role in a greenfield projects to design and implement automated scripts and API connections to retrieve datasets from external public sources. The successful candidates will also be responsible for establishing processes for data cleaning and standardisation to ensure consistency with PMDA-defined data mapping and classification structures.

A key responsibility is the design and construction of structured database tables and analytical views that support efficient querying and cross-sector analysis. The consultant will also implement repeatable automation and scheduling processes to minimise manual data handling and ensure datasets remain accurate and up to date. Comprehensive experience documenting the database architecture, scripts, and pipelines is required. The role also requires a consultancy familiar with knowledge transfer and used to providing a full technical handover to the end client for internal run state maintenance.

We’re looking to speak to Data Engineers, ideally coming from a strong consultancy background, prior Public Sector experience would be a definite plus. with experience leading complex projects and high-performing multidisciplinary teams. The successful candidate will be expert in designing and implementing data pipelines and ETL/ELT processes with very strong  Strong SQL and database development skills, including experience in designing relational database structures. Knowledge on Microsoft Azure (including Azure SQL Database and related services) is strongly preferred. S/He will have a proven track record integrating external data sources, including APIs and open/public datasets as well as deep experience on data cleansing, transformation and standardisation techniques as well as the ability to design scalable and maintainable data architectures.
